i.TV was the leading entertainment guidance system for the iPhone and Android.
The Challenge
Define, architect, develop, and deploy a mobile entertainment guidance application in preparation for the launch of the first generation iPhone and the now famous Apple App Store.
The Process
Tireless hours pouring our hearts and minds into learning and building a solution to deliver a new experience on a new platform within a few months. We met with senior architects and user interface experts at Apple to ensure our design and implementation would sing and dance for users. It was critical to ensure that our users enjoyed a trilling feature rich experience in our app. We established a core team and brokered agreements with Amazon, Apple, TiVo, Rovi, and more to ensure proper scaleability for our anticipated load as well as video transcoding in real time.
The Outcome
A highly scaleable platform and harness that was later used as a model to offer services at AWS, a top 100 Apple Store App, more than 1,000,000 users in less than six months and over 4,000,000 installs within the first few years. When the Android released we were quick to capture that market as well!
